BEGIN TENSE MUSIC:

BEGIN TENSE MUSIC:

But that’s when the unexpected happened. Monsters appeared in the countryside.

Rudimus: Our way of life was shattered when the monsters came out of the woodworks. We could no longer hunt without being hunted ourselves. Our only protection was to forbid all outside travel until the monsters left. That was the best mayoral decision I could come up with.

Frazz: The mayor’s decision was a complete joke because nothing was stopping the monsters from overrunning our gates and taking over our town. If they wanted to devour us that badly, they would’ve found a way.

The citizens of Birka continued on with their lives inside the town walls, but the sense of danger constantly loomed over their heads. At any moment the monsters could’ve attacked, but that was a thought kept in the deep recesses of their minds. That was, all except Centaurus, who kept visions of other centaurs on his mind. His decision to search for any clues to their whereabouts had remained intact.

Shadow: The monsters were always out there, always approaching, but it wasn’t until this fateful season that they reached the Birkan outskirts. I knew from where they came, but I also knew what their goal was. Their intent was not to attack the town. Their intent was to let the citizens starve from their own fear.
